Beginning of summer holidays

Finally, through big need and anticipation, holidays have arrived with sun and a strong 25 degrees! The last couple of weeks have been filled with stress of preparing for holidays on mums behalf, long days as per usual for my dad’s part, whereas us we have been finishing off our exams and action week. We generally did well in our exams, (especially the two annoyingly clever younger ones!) and the elders were overall happy with our results, which helped triggering a good start to the summer.

Action week for all of us, except Marcus who is yet too young for this phenomenon, was full of laughs, tough and challenging activities mentally and physically, as well as much gained knowledge from each activity. William was quite lucky as he got to experience a range of adventures such as paintballing, going to a water-park, rafting and hiking through the top half of Jirisan Mountain. Emil wasn’t very unfortunate either, as he got to go on a road trip through South Korea and busk on the way, in a range of places with his mates and his favorite teacher by far, Mr. Turner. By far, my activity was clearly the toughest… I signed up for the fitness general group with one of the graduates from last year. He is a great guy with much knowledge on how to stay fit and healthy. I managed to return home Monday with a sore back, Tuesday a sore abdomen, Wednesday still a sore abdomen! And then there was Thursday where I managed to return home with a swollen knee. Ouchhhh. In fact I wasn’t the only one returning home sore as Emil had a sore stomach when he got home on the Thursday. What a pair of softies we must have been to get home haha. Fortunately Emil got all good again quick! While I must a face a bit of a slower recovery, but at least it’s getting better.

On the Friday, our specific activities were over and so instead we were all assembled into the hall where each group had to present what they had been up to the last week. For the most part it got a bit dragged out, but it must be said that some of the presentations were quite enjoyable and many laughs filled the hall every now and then. Also, William must be commended for being quite a speaker, representing his whole group, he stood in front of all Middle and High School with great confidence and clarity. Even one of my friends mentioned it to me. Proud of the kid, surely he will be a great speaker one day! That day we could grab the bus after period 4, which was quite a bonus! However, having to say goodbye to so many of the faces that have been brightening up our day for the past year was not easy. Personally I have had to say goodbye to 5 of my very close friends.

It can easily be said that there has been much excitement recently then. Lows and highs, emotions floating all around the place, but overall we can only feel blessed to have had such great friends that we can only hope to see again in the future, summer and holidays and such a successful year at our school BIFS! Furthermore it must be mentioned that this is the time when it is exactly a year since we left our much missed life in Australia!

Mum and  dad have uploaded some recent photos.

I wish all of you a beautiful summer/winter and happy holidays!
